History
2008, 2009 – Many attempts to form an Association for the ignored and isolated Academic Support Staff layer of the Government University System.
2008, 2009, 2010 – Pioneer role is played by the University of Moratuwa. Held many meetings at the University of Moratuwa combined with the University of Kelaniya.
2010/ 07/ 26 – Formed and Registered Inter University Academic Staff Association with nine Government Universities ( University of Peradeniya, University of Kelaniya, University of Ruhuna, University of Colombo, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Moratuwa). Registration Number is 8094.

2012 / 08/ 10 – The First AGM of the IUASSA is held at the Ratnayake Hall, National Institute of Cooperative Development (NICD), Polgolla, Kandy .
Joined Eastern University and the Jaffna University with IUASSA.
Member Representation Statement of the Constitution has been changed and executives were selected as one person from each University, to have an even representation inside the committee .
Formed a Documentation Committee to enhanc e the knowledge of the members about the important circulars .
Association has renamed as Inter University Academic Support Staff Association – Segment I
